Ages,
Calendars, and Dates
There are four different
calendars in use in Valesadonia. Please
note to make conversions between calendars easy to calculate, each one does
have a year 0.
The most common is the Golden
Calendar (GC). It begins in the year
that Kalla defeated Migulac
and the dawn of the Golden Age. It is
used throughout the human lands.
The Dragon Calendar (DC)
begins with the Age of Dragons. It is
used by lizardfolk and others who revere or worship
dragons. It is also the most common
calendar in use in the underdark. Gold dwarves, whisper gnomes, drow, and other subterranean races use this calendar as
they believe it was the dragons which drove their ancestors into the eath.
The Kings Calendar (KC) is
the only calendar that starts in the middle of an age. Year 1 KC marks the year the White Order was
established during the Age of Kings. It
was the most common calendar in use until the Dark Age.
Three hundred years ago, a sun
elf named Narmond wrote an extensive history of
Valesadonia, beginning with Barbarian Age.
This history is considered by many to be the most accurate ever
recorded. The sun elves adapted a new
calendar, the Chronicles Calendar (CC), based on this volume of work.
