Valesadonia Campaign
Religion
Clerics and paladins must have
a chosen deity. Other PCs may have a
chosen or patron deity or they may decide to pay homage to all the gods/godesses. They may
even choose a group of deities as their chosen deity.
No PC may worship any evil
deity, Asphodel, or the Ancient One.
The deities of Valesadonia
include the “AD&D Pantheon” (includes those in the PHB) from Deities and
Demigods, some of the deities from Faiths and Pantheons (Forgotten Realms), and
deities from other sources. The monster
deities from the appendix in Faiths and Pantheons can also be found in
Valesadonia.
Here is the list of deities
from Faiths and Pantheons that are worshipped in Valesadonia:

The Ancient One
Symbol: none Favorite Weapon: none
Portfolio: mystics, cultists Domains: unknown
Alignment: unknown Cleric Alignments: unknown
Little is known for certain
about the being called the Ancient One.
There is, however, much speculation.
Some say the Ancient One is a myth.
Others say it was he who created the world and gave birth to the
gods. Some say the Ancient One is
without form or is a part of all living things.
Others say that he is the god of the gods and that they worship him as we in turn worship the
gods. There are a few cults that claim
to worship him. Mostly, he is a subject
of research and debates among sages.
Asphodel
Symbol: tarot deck Favorite Weapon: wand of wonder
Portfolio: wonder, chaos, insanity Domains: chaos, fate, luck
Alignment: CN Cleric
Alignments: CN
The God of Wonder! To some he is the most frightening of the
gods, even though he has never been known to show malice or ill-intent. Rather, he is feared because his clerics tend
to act as living wands of wonder. One
never knows what a cleric of Asphodel will do or when. They have been known to save the lucky town
or group of adventurers. They have also
been known to take a good situation and make it very bad. He is often depicted as a curious and child like halfling, imp, or
satyr.
Bellum
Symbol: bear Favorite Weapon: greatclub
Portfolio: goliaths, strength, adventure Domains: Luck, Strength, Travel
Alignment: N Cleric
Alignments: Any
Bellum expects his followers
to keep fit and to rely on their physical prowess to overcome any difficulties. If there’s one thing that impresses Bellum,
it’s confidence. He promotes physical
challenges as a method for revolving disputes among his followers. Such challenges might include wrestling
matches or quests in which the two people having the dispute attempt tp perform a series of daunting tasks. Clerics of Bellum believe in swift action,
and they disdain intricate planning or long debates. They organize athletic events and physical
contests. They often try to outdo each
other by undergoing long and demanding quests.
Erbin the Beggar God
Symbol: extended hand, palm cupped Favorite Weapon: dagger
Portfolio: assassins, beggars, vengeance Domains:
none
Alignment: NE Cleric
Alignments: None
Besides the Beggar God, Erbin is also known as the Avenger of the Downtrodden and
God of Vengeance. According to his
believers, he was once a beggar and a thief who became a deity. Others deny that he was ever mortal. Still others doubt his divineness. Erbin has no
dedicated “church” – he does not care for followers, worshippers, or
clergy. He instead focuses his attention
on those who mistreat the unfortunate.
Many a beggar has threatened passersby with Erbin’s
wraith if they did not give, and give gerously.
Felicia
Symbol: image of Felicia (catfolk) Favorite
Weapon: punching dagger
Portfolio: catfolk Domains:
chaos, destruction, protection, strength
Alignment: CN Cleric
Alignments: CG, CN, CE
Felicia is a wild deity. To those she favors she gives great
blessings, but when she is angry her wrath knows no bounds. She is a whimsical deity who demands no rigid
adherence to principles of faith. In general,
she promotes life and liberty, asserting the value of mortal life, things of
beauty, and freedom from oppressive regulation.
Hazkal
Symbol: greataxe Favorite
Weapon: greataxex
Portfolio: goatfolk Domains:
destruction, strength, war
Alignment: N Cleric Alignments: Any
Followers of Hazkal know that all life is an endless battle. War makes all participants strong. Strength is everything. Only the strong survive. Which is why his followers
constantly prepare and train for battle.
Temples of Hazkal resemble military training
camps. Ibixians
charge fearlessly into battle knowing that Hazkal
will protect the families of those who die honorably. On the other hand, the families of cowards
and traitors will be dealt with harshly.
Kalla
Symbol: bastard sword through book Favorite Weapon: bastard sword
Portfolio: freedom, "underdogs", humans, elves Domains: good, luck, protection
Alignment: NG Cleric
Alignments: LG, NG, CG
See History of the Dark and
Golden Ages.
Migulac
Symbol: skull on book Favorite
Weapon: staff
Portfolio: power, domination, forbidden lore Domains: death, evil, knowledge, magic
Alignment: NE Cleric
Alignments: LE, NE, CE
See History of the Dark and
Golden Ages.
Reor
Symbol: scales Favorite
Weapon: spiked chain
Portfolio: judgement Domains: chaos, death, evil,
good, law, protection
Alignment: N Cleric
Alignments: Any
Reor is the judge of the dead. He determines where one’s soul spends
eternity. He is believed by many to be
the eldest deity except the Ancient One.
His judgment is based on how well one lived by one’s creed and how well
on fulfilled one’s duties. There are
some who say it was Reor who made mortals like Erbin and Kalla into
deities. Those that worship him do so in
hopes that they may receive a favorable judgment from him.
Tavia
Symbol: Good – rising sun Favorite
Weapon: Good – short spear
Evil – stars Evil – sickle
Portfolio: chaos, transitions Domains: Good – chaos, good,
protection, sun, war
Evil
– chaos, death, destruction, evil, war
Alignment: C??? Cleric Alignments: CG, CE
Tavia is the Chaotic Goddess of Twilight. She represents times of transition, be it
dawn and dusk, spring and autumn, or birth and death. Towns that worship Tavia are quite devout, though small in number. There are no neutral worshipers of Tavia. The sects of Tavia
are always at odds with one another, they are an individualistic bunch and do
not tolerate the opposite belief. Much of the work of the church goes to
foil the efforts of the "other side." Clerics of Tavia are known to have tremendous power over the undead
and are usually first fingered when the dead rise. They are also usually the ones who stop the
major threats from the living dead. Those
who follow Tavia are always concerned with the
struggle between good and evil. Highly individualistic, they will take
whatever steps are necessary to strengthen their side of this eternal
war. The Sun Order believe the sun is the ultimate
symbol--dawn is the time of transition when darkness is chased away by the
light. The Star Order on the other hand sees dusk as the proper
transition to worship--light fleeing the power of darkness.
Tovah
Symbol: handshake (lupin) Favorite Weapon: Rapier
Portfolio: lupin Domains: protection, trickery
Alignment: NG Cleric
Alignments: LG, NG, CG
Tovah values loyalty and friendship. He also loves a good practical joke. Temples of Tovah
are usually open and inviting to all regardless of race. They are quick to offer shelter and aid to
those in need. The temples often hold
festivals of frivolousness and foolishness.
Clerics often compete with one another to see who can play the best
practical joke on the other.
The Traveler
Symbol: none Favorite Weapon: none
Portfolio: shapeshifters, planewalkers, time travel Domains: none
Alignment: N Cleric Alignments: none
The Traveler is a mysterious
deity. There is much debate even among
his worshippers about exactly who and what he is, as he seems to change form
often. Some believe he is actually a
deity from another world who wandered here on one of his many journeys. He is the ultimate explorer, traveling across
planes of existence and across times.
